edit: VISIT http://www.deconverts.com/2008/09/01/10-questions-every-christian-must-answer-a-christian-responds-and-so-do-we/ to read Dave Lewerenz’s comment and our response)

Christians are not better then anyone else, we simply recognize our sinfulness and need for a savior in order to make peace with God.
We do not believe as we do solely based on what the Bible says or what we have heard, but also because God has done many things in our lives that show us that God is real and is loving, etc… Personally, I have always believed in God, but only recently did I reach the point where I saw how evil this world is and that the prophesies of Revelation, Danial, and Ezekiel are now very possible.

I share my beliefs with others, but I don’t force them upon anyone… Becoming a Christian / follower of Jesus isn’t an “intelligence issue”, but rather a heart issue… no one can understand God with their limited mind, but we can sense God and see His awesome works when we have humility and search for Him with our hearts…. not the one that pumps blood, but the heart that is your inner most feelings / soul.

    Take care & God bless!

Thanks for the comment. It’s certainly one of the longest I’ve ever seen. You’ve been quite brave to make a lot of statements without supplying any evidence and you’ve also made a lot of logical fallacies (errors) in what you’ve said. I’d quite like to address each of the arguements you make, but it will take a while :)

Thanks for reading, commenting and please come back again!

to sum it all up, the day you can prove to me that we came from “nothing” is the day i’ll belive Evolution, because if you ask any scientist nothing only creates nothing.

PS Eternity is a LONG time to find out you were wrong.

    Kyle,

You’re confusing the PROVEN FACTS of Evolution, which is an explanation of our origins with the current work into Abiogenesis, which is the study of our pre-Evolution origins.

No scientist I’ve ever met has said that anything “comes from nothing”. This is a weak argument called a “Straw Man” which is set up by creationists so that they can easily knock it down and claim victory. As you can see, this is crazy.

Therefore you are crazy to think that proof of “coming from nothing” (what the heck are you talking about?!?!) is in any way a suggestion of the validity of the Theory of Evolution

You talk about “Eternity” as if time has always existed. Did you know that the time you perceive is merely an illusion? Time itself can be twisted, bent and warped. “Time” in the linear sense only started around 16 billion years ago. Prior to that there was no “Time”.

I would encourage you to seek out educational material, particularly something from any popular science writer and stop listening to crazy creationist propaganda.

To sum it all up: If you would like to suggest something, I’ll show you why it’s wrong. Come up please with a sentence or two (I’ll even let you have a paragraph), and I’ll show you exactly why and where the creationists have pulled the wool over your eyes.

I hope you enjoy this website, there’s a lot more resource here which you will, I am sure, find very valuable.

P.S. Eternity is a LONG time to find out you were wrong. How do you know you picked the right God? What if it’s Allah (I assume by your writing style that you are an American home educated christian?) or Baal that you meet? You’re in trouble then I can tell you!

Kyle, or any followers of scripture…

I have a few questions, but I will be brief.

I am an atheist, I live a good life. I work in the public sector for around half the money I could be earning (And was) because I like to help people. I do work for charity (Disabled children mainly – as an aside, will they go to hell?) I don’t do any harm to others. Will I go to Hell in your opinion? If so, why?

Your Book, presumably the Bible? (Although ‘Kyle’ is historically a Jewish name is it not?) May I ask do you take it as literal fact?

How ‘old’ do you think the earth is? And what do you make of carbon dating?

and before you ask, no, I don’t have all the answers, we may never have them in my view – doesn’t make the world we live in any less amazing and wonderous though.

    Thanks,

    Dave

Whooooh! Kyle, Just clicked on your name and saw your somewhat confusing Myspace page :)

Slipknot? (Fuck the world, fuck this shit, fuck everything that we stand for? – from memory, haven’t listened to the album for a while…)

    My Chemical Romance? (’nuff said!)

    Butthole Surfers… ?

    OK, Films…

    Hostel 1 AND 2? Jesus dude…!

You think your God would approve of this stuff?!?

Sorry, I am being flippant. But on the one hand you are quoting stuff like “If you have EVER used the lords name in vane you will burn like a crisp in Wigan for eternity” (or something…) But you listen to music that would have been banned just 15 years ago on decency laws and watch films that are commonly classified as ‘torture porn’?

Each to theri owm, and I am not judging you… Just find the contrast rather suprising!

And, you are 16 years old. You have my respect for airing your views in public like this.

    Peace

    Dave

PS – Books: The Bible – Good call, good book. Ever tried any other religious texts? Genuinely interested. I have read many, fascinating stuff…
